    ABOUT US

We are a family run business that has had over 30 years experience in the car repair industry. â€‹

Starting out as a young lad I would follow my grandad into his garage and watch him for hours customizing & painting cars, The cars he would be working on where for people all over the world including some famous people.

Seeing my grandad do this over the years really insipired me to follow in his footsteps, At the age of 16 I managed to get an apprenticeship in a large restoration company, They where shocked I could do the same work that the older guys where doing! Working there was a great experience and I worked on a lot of one off jobs including some top secret fabrication work involving the Volvo 850 BTCC Estate conversion into Saloon & the 5 TWR XJ220S models, I also worked on the restoration of many Jaguar E-Type, XK120, XK140, XK150 & MK2's.

I then decided it was time to setup myself offering custom work that included Engine conversions, This was so succesful I quickly realised i needed help with the work load and sourcing of parts. I asked my brother if he would join me, He helped with the computer side of things and ordering of parts. Over time we started to also break cars for spares and soon got so busy we needed more help, Thats when I asked my dad to come out of retirement to help us, His job was cataloging parts & mail order.

Now I had help I had more time to spend on building our customers cars where one of our cars came 3rd in its 1st show.

    John Shirley-My Insipration

After a few years I decided to sell off the business and take a break, I did a little welding & fabrication work with a local company that specialised in classic cars, This made me feel working on classic cars is where I belong, I started looking for a workshop but to no avail it was then I decided to invest in building my own workshop to my own design, Again I realised I needed help with this so I asked my brother & father to join me, To my delight they agreed. I decided the only place I could build this workshop was where my grandads old dilapidated garage sat. It was then that Rusty Nuts was formed, We now have a purpose built garage that my grandad would have been proud to work in.  We now offer amongst other services welding & Fabrication work, I take pride in my work whether it be a service, brake pad change or a full restoration. At this time the only service we cannot offer if retrimming of interiors.
